Freedom of Information

In November 2000, the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) received
Royal Assent. It was fully implemented in January 2005. The Act
applies to some 100,000 public authorities, including England’s
nine Regional Development Agencies.
The Act provides greater access to all types of recorded
information held by public authorities and imposes obligations on
them to disclose information, subject to a range of exemptions.
Environmental Information Regulations
The Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) came into force
on 1 January 2005. EIR gives members of the public the right to
access environmental information held by NWDA.
Publication Scheme
Each public authority is required under the FOI Act to produce a
publication scheme setting out what information it would publish as
a matter of course. As well as indicating what information is
published by the NWDA, our Scheme also tells you where to find that
information on this website. Currently all information indicated in
the Scheme is available without cost.
