Keswick BID
The Keswick BID is the first Market (and rural) Town to
undertake a Business Improvement District ballot in England; the
pilot has been driven by the business sector since concept and
balloted 464 businesses throughout the town in September
2005. Keswick is a town situated in the heart of the Lake
District, with a diverse mix of business sectors and has a high
number of accommodation and tourism related businesses. The
resident population of the town is 5,400 with between 1 and 2
million visitors per year.
A Company Limited by Guarantee has been established with a private
sector Board and delivers the business plan on which Keswick
Business people voted. A part time co-ordinator has been
appointed and projects are currently underway, for example
additional Christmas Lights, improvement to alleyways and support
to a new exciting festival – Keswick Mountain Festival 2007.
