Oldham BID

Oldham Town Centre BID has secured a yes vote from the business community within the BID area. The BID will go live in April 2007.

All activities are intended to increase the profitability of the BID area by:

  • Reducing the cost of business crime.
  • Improving the image of the BID area.
  • Attracting visitors.

Each business ratepayer will be asked to invest an annual payment equal to 1% of the rateable value of their business premises over a five year period.The amount payable will increase by 3% each year to take into account inflation.

The BID has already attracted additional voluntary contributions in excess of £520,000 to support the BID proposal in advance of the ballot. Additional voluntary contributions of nearly £200,000
have also been secured over the lifetime of the BID.

The projects listed below form the basis of the BID proposal and it is this activity on which businesses are asked vote.

Business Crime Partnership Activity delivered will include:

  • A dedicated Project Manager to help reduce Business Crime Activity in the BID area.
  • The development of a database on known offenders and suspects.
  • Targeting of repeat and prolific offenders.
  • Weekly intelligence briefings for businesses.
  • One to one visits with businesses to identify problems and offer assistance.
  • Introduction of an Exclusion Order Scheme.
  • Gathering of evidence to support Anti-Social Behaviour Orders for more serious offenders.
  • Training for Partnership staff members.
  • Information sharing with other Town Centres.
  • Raising the profile of business crime issues and lobbying for additional resources to address these issues.
