Northern Leadership Academy
The Northern Leadership Academy (NLA) is a £5 million flagship
initiative announced in January 2006. The aim is to develop
entrepreneurial growth in the North of England through increasing
leadership talent.
The objective is to develop more and better leaders and more
productive entrepreneurs. The NLA seeks to do this by
providing new opportunities for leadership development for existing
and potential leaders in business, the public sector and within
communities.
The NLA is a collaboration between the Lancaster University
Management School, Leeds University Business School and the
University of Liverpool Management School. It is based at the
Lancaster Leadership Centre. Partners include the three northern
Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) and the Northern Way.
The programme forms part of the Northern Way Growth Strategy,
launched in September 2004 and backed with a £100 million
Growth Fund by the Government and the three northern RDAs. It
aims to eradicate the £30 billion output gap between the North of
England and the average of the other English regions by 2025.
