Regional Skills Partnerships
The Skills White paper in 2003 set out the remit for Regional
Skills Partnerships (RSPs). The aim of RSPs is to ensure
that in each region there is a strong connection between the skills
needed to raise productivity and the allocation of funds to
training providers. The structure of RSPs is expected to deliver a
better skilled workforce to support the achievement of the Regional
Economic Strategy (RES).
The Northwest RSP (NWRSP)
The NWRSP aims to reinforce the connection between skills,
employment and productivity, building on the
region's experience of piloting the integration of adult
skills and Business Link services. The overall work of the RSP has
so far made a critical contribution to the RES. The NWRSP
structure embraces:
- The Northwest Regional Skills Partnership Board
- The Northwest Regional Skills Partnership Executive
Group
- The Regional Skills Partnership Workstreams (comprising Train
to Gain, brokerage, sector skills, 14 -19, higher education,
worklessness, leadership and management, links to local
authorities)
- The Northwest Regional Skills Partnership Partners Action
Group
