AMS secures site for major new facility in North West

99 jobs have been safeguarded, with a further 41 new positions created in Cheshire, thanks to a £275k Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) grant to Advanced Medical Solutions.

Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) was founded in 1991 in Winsford Cheshire as a Research and Development start-up company, focusing on the development of high performance polymers for the healthcare market.

The capital investment grant, known as Selective Finance for Investment (SFI) will allow the company to remain in the region, merging the current two sites into one and almost doubling the manufacturing facility to 15,000 sq m.

Additional facilities will include the installation of R&D laboratories and supporting infrastructure incorporating a suite of clean rooms, new and re-located manufacturing equipment, utilities and services, together with supporting office and laboratory space.

SFI grants are available for businesses that are looking for financial backing in order to successfully carry out investment projects. Grants are available for business projects of all sizes located in ‘Assisted Areas’ of the Northwest.

Mark Hughes, Executive Director of Enterprise and Skills at the NWDA said:

“Since 1991 Advanced Medical Solutions has clearly demonstrated its ambition for growth by consistently launching market driven innovative products and investing in research facilities to secure future growth. The additional facilities will allow the company to take advantage of a growing market.

“The NWDA is committed to supporting businesses that are likely to contribute to the commercial success of the region, creating jobs for the area and increasing the overall wealth of the region.”

Dr. Don Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Medical Solutions said:

“I am delighted that we have managed to secure a prime site for this new facility in the local area thus retaining key staff and skills and mitigating the disruption risks associated with a major project of this kind.  This is a key investment for AMS, which will  allow us to consolidate our existing operations in a state of the art facility, support our growth plans and further strengthen our position as a leading  technology driven, medical device company.”

The NWDA manages and funds a number of business finance solutions designed to help businesses in the region to start up and grow. For further information visit the business page at www.nwda.co.uk
